A beach vacation is the perfect time to unwind, soak up the sun, and create lasting memories with family and friends. In addition to swimming and lounging on the sand, engaging in beach games adds an extra element of fun and entertainment to your getaway. Whether you're looking for active sports or laid-back activities, this blog post will introduce you to a variety of games that are sure to make your beach vacation unforgettable.
1. Yard Pong: Yard Pong is a fun outdoor game that can be played and enjoyed by people of all ages. Essentially, yard pong is a jumbo or oversized version of Beerpong that uses buckets rather than solo cups. It is great for playing games in the park, when camping, or on the beach. Rather than filling the buckets with adults only drinks, the buckets are simply filled with water, making the game suitable for kids and teenagers as well as adults. While you can still opt to add in drinking penalties for the adults, we simply dump the water from the bucket on our heads. If you're feeling more adventurous, maybe make it a game of slime pong with your kids. Grab the game here: Yard Pong!
2. Bocce Ball: Bocce (pronunciation: baa-chee) is beach game that's played with eight weighted balls aimed at a smaller target ball called the pallino. The objective of the game is to earn points by getting your balls closer to the pallino than your opponent does. The first team to reach 12 points wins the game (must win by 2). Go here to grab your's: Bocce Ball Game!
3. CornHole: CornHole or Corn Toss is similar to horseshoes except you use wooden boxes called CornHole boards and corn bags instead of horseshoes and metal stakes. Team members take turns pitching their corn bags at the CornHole boards until a team reaches 21 points. Scoring is as follows: 3 points for a corn bag in the hole & 1 point for it landing on the CornHole board using the cancel out/net scoring rule. Grab a set here: CornHole Game! They also make LED lights to line the board and hole for night play - Get those here: CornHole Board Lights!
4. Tidal Ball: TidalBall is a mix of cornhole and bocce ball; however, the ball is lighter and you throw it into either a small hole for three points or the long trench for one point. With your teammate on the opposite side, you alternate tosses, score with the basic cancel out/net scoring rule, and try not to lose. And...the best part is there are no heavy boards to lug around! You dig the hole and trenches right in the sand. Grab your's here: Tidal Ball Game!
5. Spikeball: Spikeball is similar to volleyball but on a much smaller scale. It is a team sport played by two teams of two players. Opposing teams line up across from each other with the Spikeball net in the center. The ball is put in play with a serve—a hit by the server from behind the service boundary into the net to an opposing player. Once the ball is served players can move anywhere they want. The object of the game is to hit the ball into the net so that the opposing team cannot return it. A team is allowed up to three touches to return the ball. The rally continues until the ball is not returned properly. Watch out though, it can get very competitive! Grab your set here: Spikeball Game!
Honorable mention: Other games and accessories we love to take to the beach with us! We love these Chairs! They are lightweight and compact for travel yet still comfy. This is our go-to Umbrella. Lastly, we never go to the beach without a good Back Pack Cooler! Other games we like: Bung Hole, Kan Jam, & Velcro Ball Catch!
Adding games to your beach vacation itinerary can take your experience from enjoyable to unforgettable. Whether it's Spikeball, Yard Pong, CornHole, Bocce Ball, or Tidal Ball, these games offer entertainment for everyone. So, grab your beach gear, gather your loved ones, and get ready to create cherished memories while having a blast in the sun and surf.
